GSA: Season Update

The 2023 season has been a memorable one with lots of great experiences as our new summertime guests enjoy all the North Seal and the Manitoba Sub-Arctic has to offer.

Our first guests going to Churchill left the lodge July 18th. The pilot who flew them said they saw thousands of belugas while circling over the town before landing in Churchill. All guests since have reported incredible experiences and polar bears have been spotted.

Our Northern Lights at the lodge commenced on July 21st, the earliest we can remember,  and it has been an exceptional season so far. Many guests have seen the Auroras multiple nights during the stay here. Green has been the standard colors but some photographs have caught excellent images with reds and purples too.

Our local wolf pack continues to amaze guests and recently our biologists have enticed them to engage in howling activities . An amazing sight and an even more amazing when you hear them. 100% of our guests so far have seen the wolves. Speaking of wildlife, we just made our first trip to the Tundra to our Courage Lake site. Ganglers guests were welcomed by an early arrival of 75 Central Barrenground caribou as they toured the Manitoba/Nunavut border. Guest Cheryl McSherry also had the added bonus of finding a previously undiscovered 4” long quartz spearpoint.

Best of all, we have had the opportunity to host some absolutely wonderful guests whose appreciation for our unique area has been just as fun and heart-warming for us as it is for them.
